"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

Muscle cars have a reputation for being raw, crude, basic machines with big wings and orange stripy paint, designed for leaving black skid marks at the exit of the drive-in or on a country two lane road. But there are some that take a more suit and tie approach. Take one of the earlier muscle cars, the Chrysler 300B. The 355hp 300B, and in fact all of the 300s of the 50s, featured massive, powerful Hemi engines that made them a force to be reckoned with both on the road and on the track. Yet they were still classy, understated luxury cars, or overstated in the case of the later models. Loud and brash is all very well and good, but what would be your first choice if you had to show up at a cocktail party one day and a drag race the next?

I figured you of all people would have picked that big old Benz with the like 7.0L motor under the hood. I'd call that a muscle car of ultimate classiness.

I thought there was one, it was an S class, and it had a 6.9L engine or something like that.

I suppose that might work without the wing and stripe.

Ah you're right, but the 6.3 was the original. Far classier IMO ; )

Having been in a 1st and 2nd gen , I cannot overstate how much of an improvement the second was. First one had an awful interior and rode like a tractor. Not that one.

Yeah, the original run of the 300s really is the best answer for this. I suppose the classiest of the bunch would be a 58 hardtop...so clean.

Seriously, no one here has answered Riviera yet? The 1st gen and the 3rd gen are some of the classiest-looking American cars of all time, in my opinion. With a good bit off muscle too, may I add.
